Our top 5 Family Holiday Destinations in Asia Pacific
Looking for some fabulous family destinations to get your fix of sunshine, fun and utter relaxation (is that even a thing with kids?)?
The last 2 year, our traveling escapades existed more in the world of scrolling through our instagram in pyjamas with a Margarita in hand looking at places we couldn’t go.
But with most countries lifting their restrictions, traveling is back on the agenda - hallelujah! And although our list of places to go to is long, we picked our top 5 in Asia Pacific that are great for families and only a plane ride away.
Langkawi, Malaysia
Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands just off the coast of Malaysia. Take the longboat out to visit some of these islands, visit national parks or wade yourself through the mangroves to get an up close look of all the amazing things Langkawi has to offer. There are hotels and resorts to cater for any budget and if you feel like spending some quality time with your partner, most of them offer kids clubs too! It’s a win win really.
Maldives
Not just for the honeymooners, it’s perfect for families too. A 26 atoll chain of islands surrounded by crystal clear azure waters that boasts an abundance of marine life. From dolphin watching, island hopping, kayaking, to building sand castles on palm fringed beaches, it’s paradise life at its best.
New Caledonia
A taste of the tropics with a French twist - oui oui. This island is home to the largest lagoon, only over 9000 square miles, and ticks of all the tropical paradise boxes - white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, rainforests, mountains and more. And if you make your way there between July and September it’s a great place for spotting hundreds of humpback whales with their babies. Just watching that little brood with your little brood, isn’t that the best!
Sri Lanka
The island of stunning beaches, rolling rice field, ancient cities, lush tea plantations and endless mountain views. Take the scenic train ride or get on a tuk tuk to explore the island. Watch elephants in the wild, grab a board and ride some little or big waves, or sip a cup of tea at one of the many tea plantations. So much to see, so much to do on this culture rich island.
Travel Note. Currently there is political and economical unrest in the country so please follow travel advisory. I wanted to include this as this has been on our list for so long and deserves a shout out for the friendliest people, amazing landscapes, and let’s not skip the food! It deserves a spot in our list!
Koh Samui, Thailand
This list wouldn’t be complete without a destination to Thailand. Thailand, the land of smiles with the friendliest people who are known to absolutely adore kids. Koh Samui is the 3rd largest island and the calm waters are great for children to splash about. Eat some lovely fresh Thai food with your feet nestled in the sand of Bophut beach or head out for a paddle in the waters of Choeng Mon Beach. For a cultural outing you can visit the Big Budha statue at Wat Phra Yai Temple which is on a tiny island connected to Ko Samui. Laidback island life is awaiting.
