The Best Beaches To Explore This Winter!

With the school holidays looming, the tropical holiday escape officially out the window and the thermostat not reaching above 15ish degrees, it’s time to get those layers out of the closet and embrace the winter in all its glory.

We've sussed out the best not-so-obvious beach gems that are only a short drive away from the big cities. The best family day-trippers to get you exploring all of Australia's amazingness that's just sitting there in your own backyard waiting to be discovered.

And the best thing about winter? A legitimate excuse to drink a rich-steamy-filled-with-marshmellowgoodiness hot chocolate every single damn day. So with each destination, we have included a must-go cafe to get your hot cup of Coco to warm up after a day on the beach.

There has never been a better time to explore our beaches while soaking up the winter sun.

Barwon Heads VIC

Located in the Bellarine Peninsula and only 1,5 hr drive from Melbourne, this area has it all. Coastal town vibes, sandy shoreline of the Barwon River, rocky headlands and ocean beaches.

These beaches are only the tip of the iceberg. Australia has over 10,000 beaches and apparently it takes 27 years if you would visit one each day - how is that for a fun fact! So rug up, pack the car and hit the road.

And perhaps you get one of those cracker days - you know one of those 'it feels like summer days' and you might even contemplate going in for a dip? I'm sure the kids will. So don't forget to bring your swimmers.
